Sports Media, Inc. is seeking dedicated and innovative Level Designers to join our team and bring imaginative virtual worlds to life. As a Level Designer, you'll play a crucial role in crafting detailed and dynamic environments that serve as the backbone for immersive gaming experiences. Our projects range from high-stakes sports arenas and intricate construction zones to cutting-edge training simulators designed for various professional skills, including Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) scenarios, and even financial decision-making challenges.

In this role, you'll contribute to the advancement of educational games, simulation-based learning modules, and esports arenas that prepare players for real-world applications and competitive gaming. Your expertly crafted levels will serve as both training grounds for skill acquisition and arenas for competition in our national High School and Collegiate Esports Leagues.


Responsibilities:

1. Level Design & Development:

   - Collaborate in designing levels that are both compelling and balanced, providing a seamless blend of skill acquisition, narrative depth, and challenge-reward dynamics.

   - Construct the spatial, visual, and interactive elements of game environments across a variety of genres, including sports, training simulations, and casual gaming scenarios.

2. System Architecture:

   - Develop modular and scalable design systems adaptable to both small-footprint simulators and expansive online platforms.

   - Ensure your designs are flexible and sustainable, enabling effective use across different platforms and gameplay experiences.

3. Collaboration & Integration:

   - Work closely with gameplay engineers, 3D artists, and narrative writers to integrate core gameplay mechanics with visual and storytelling elements.

   - Participate in iterative design processes, conducting usability testing and refining your designs based on comprehensive feedback and performance data.

4. Technical Development & Learning:

   - Master and apply level design principles that enhance user engagement and learning efficacy.

   - Navigate the technical constraints inherent in hardware-based simulators and browser-based gaming platforms, ensuring functionality across diverse technological landscapes.

5. Instructional Balance & Entertainment:

   - Balance the instructional objectives of training-focused games with entertainment elements to create engaging and educational experiences.

   - Design levels that cater to both training-oriented and competitive gaming audiences.

6. Collaboration & Tools Mastery:

   - Engage with collaborative game development pipelines, incorporating best practices for version-controlled environments.

   - Design and develop levels using industry-standard tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or proprietary editing tools, focusing on creating clear and intuitive player experiences.
